All in all a solid hour of music, I think. Started off strong with some nu-rock n' roll, which I think segued well into the punk rock with Viva Las Vegas. The Damned, T.S.O.L, Murder City Devils block was a crowd favorite surprisingly. Ended strong with the Brit Pop after blowing it with the Le Tigre track.

I want to be stereotyped. I want to be classified.

New people are moving into my office. One of them is a total douchey douche. Luckily he's my superior. Yay!

Ever since posting about the Kirby omnibus I've been on an omnibus kick. Gimme these:

Alias Omnibus

No, not like the TV show. Like the Brian Michael Bendis masterpiece (note: never actually read it so don't know if it's a masterpiece)!

And the most shocking twist: Luke Cage - Jessica Jones buttsecks! On the page! Hotchi motchi!
Daredevil Omnibus (Frank Miller)

Wowee zowee (seriously? Did I follow hotchi motchi with wowee zowee?)! Every spectacular issue of Daredevil written by Frank Miller (Sin City, 300, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns), who singlehandedly reinvented the character.

You'll recieve such hits as:
The introduction of Elektra into Marvel Comics lure!
Bullseye actually being awesome!
The Kingpin's turn from lame fat guy to comic book villian big shot!

Also, I think I'm gonna do this. Yeah, I know.... ballsy.

I am Un Chien Andalusia

I can't believe I still have not posted this, my set list from Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Bar 4 in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

So here we are, at HOUR NUMBER ONE (11:00 PM 5/26 - 12:00 AM 5/27)

1. Jens Lekman - Sweet Summer's Night in Hammer Hill

OK, seriously, I'm not sure what took me so long to get on this guy's bandwagon, but I am, in a big way. There's something about that voice of his that makes a man turn gay for just like two seconds until he realizes that he's dancing by himself at the wheel of his car and has to hastily quit, lest fellow drivers see what he's doing (I mean, not this guy, but other guys. Totally-not-gay-dude here.) This song is really just perfect for a nice warm night, with the windows and door of the bar open, the breeze blowing through; it was a swell way to get things started. Arty (the bartender) really dug it. Well, maybe that's not accurate; he asked me who sung it, which made me believe he really liked it, but I suppose it could have been like, "oh, who is this, so I can go out of my way to never listen to it again?" All I know is that it put a smile on my face to start the set with this (again, so not gay.)

2. Duran Duran - Planet Earth
3. Happy Mondays - 24 Hour Party People
4. Milemarker - Shrink To Fit
5. Death From Above 1979 - Sexy Results
6. !!! - Kooka Kooka Fuk U
7. New Order - Age Of Consent
8. The Clash - Spanish Bombs
9. The Ramones - Rockaway Beach
10. Jawbreaker - Bad Scene, Everyone's Fault
11.The Jam - In The City

12. The Undertones - Here Comes The Summer

-Is it just me or is this one of the best, most overlooked punk bands of the 1970's? I had never even heard of them until my friend Justin randomly sent me a song when I was in college and I got completely hooked. Clearly the reasoning behind picking this song here was to continue some half-assed summer theme I had started with number 1, and continued upon slightly with number 9; but I could have really picked any other song (and, incidentally, think I did later on in the set. Keep your eyes peeled.)

13. The Alkaline Trio - My Friend Peter (a shout out to my actual friend Peter)
14. The Buzzcocks - Orgasm Addict
15. The New York Dolls - Jet Boy
16. The Starvations - Last Night I Had A Nightmare We Got Married
17. Nick Lowe - Heart of the City

In other news, I played trivia this week with Jen, Chris, Colleen, Josh, and Garrett at Abilene, where we came in second place thanks to my knowledge of the Sopranos, cheesy 21st century dance punk, and sports. Don't ask me shit about my home state though. Apparantly I'm a big New York know-nothing. Anyway, this is apparantly the closest they've all come to being in first place, so my guess is if I come every week from now on I'm bound to stumble across a "comic books and wrestling" category, and possibly a Star Wars Expanded Universe category, and take this team to the top.

Speaking of nerdy things, I missed out on comic shopping this week; no funds = no funZ. But if I DID go, here's what I would get (and probably WILL get come this weekend):

1. Countdown #46 if only just because I went through 52 issues of 52, and just think the weekly format hasn't worn out it's novelty on me just yet.
2. Green Lantern Corps #13 - What can I say? Give a guy a power ring and I'm hooked (unless his name is John Stewart.)
3. Planet Hulk hardcover and World War Hulk #1- Hulk is so gonna smash.

4. Jack Kirby's Fourth World omnibus vol. 1 - The first collection of the legendary Jack Kirby's seminal metaseries, this collects Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olson #133-139, Forever People #1-3, New Gods #1-3, and Mister Miracle #1-3!!! Best part about these volumes is that they're all in chronological order. Also, it's only $50!! Worst part? DC is retarded and cancelled the 4 series before Kirby could supply an ending. LAME.
